Two weeks ago we set out for the “Naturlehrgebiet Buchwald” which is a small protected place with some artificially created ponds that support a species-rich animal and plant life.
As the title probably gave away, we were there for frogs and maybe some snakes.

We were fortunate enough, not only to find plenty of common water frog’s, but also some European grass snake’s and even witnessed a battle to the near death of a frog with a snake. The snake had caught the frog with a bite to the leg and was slowly reeling it in.
